THE SOUND EX Signs With DEMOLITION RECORDS

January 17, 2008

Demolition Records has announced the worldwide signing of North-East rock band, THE SOUND EX (formerly THE SOUND EXPLOSION)

THE SOUND EX is Glen Roughhead (guitar and vocals),Kit Endean (guitar and vocals),Euan Macfarlane (bass guitar) and Stevie Gibson (drums). Formed in 2003 and inspired by music ranging from STAX to SHELLAC, SUN RECORDS to THE SONICS, LED ZEPPELIN to HOT SNAKES, their music is a twenty-first century amalgamation of the fast and furious sound of punk rock and soul, with a side order of dirty blues and gospel.

The band's manager James Grant commented: "We're really excited that THE SOUND EX have found what we feel is the perfect home for them in Demolition Records. With such uncertain vibes emanating from a lot of labels at the moment, we have been nothing but impressed with the set up and ambition at Demolition. It's run as a label should be, with absolute passion and hard work from the ground up."

Singer Glen Roughead added: "We recorded this album with producer Paul Reeve at Sawmills in Cornwall while still signed to SonyBMG, and when we left the label and still hadn't released anything, Demolition was our first choice. We're so excited to be working with the team over there and we know that our record will be worked by people who care about music and artists."

Demolition's head honcho Ged Cook commented on the signing: "We wanted to diversify our roster and invest more in young fresh talent. When we first heard THE SOUND EX we knew they were the band to move Demolition Records forward to the next level. It's the first time since I've seen a bunch of young twenty year olds perform so ferociously, they remind me of THE WHO at their peak!"
